Executive Director, Partners in Population and Development (PPD)

Mr. Harry S. Jooseery joined PPD as its 4th Executive Director in January 2006. Before joining PPD, Harry was the ED of the Mauritius Family Planning Association, which he served for the past 15 years.

Harry is a social scientist with a medical background. He started his career as a journalist and TV newscaster and served as Education Officer, Program Director, National and International Consultant and Executive Director successively. He has also worked for IPPF and several UN agencies like UNDP, UNFPA, UNICEF in Mauritius and many African countries and UN Missions in Mauritius. He graduated in Economics, Political Science, Education and has a Masters degree in Reproductive Health from the University of Edinburgh, UK. He undertook specialized courses in Population and Development and Executive Development from the University of Cambridge and the University of Witwatersrand. He was the recipient of IPPF Gold Medal in 2005.

Harry is also a voluntary social worker and have lately been a member of the Rotary Club, Chairman of several socio cultural organizations and takes a special interest in Music. He is married to Usha and has two children, Smita, a law student and Kentish, a digital media student in London.
